PAY BASICS · PILOT EXPLAINER
How CPM pay works
CPM means cents per paid mile. The rate matters, but so do the miles, the calculation method, and what the advertised number includes.
70 CPM is $0.70 per mile
For an illustrative rate of 70 CPM and your assumption of 2,500 paid miles, the arithmetic is $0.70 × 2,500 = $1,750 for that week before taxes and any deductions. These are example inputs, not a real carrier offer or guaranteed miles.
Ask what is inside the rate
Is this base pay, an average, or an “up to” figure? Are safety or performance bonuses included? Is team pay per driver or per truck? Are empty miles paid, and which routing method is used? Does an accessorial payment overlap another advertised component? If the source does not say, keep it unknown.
Do not annualize a best-case week
Time off, dispatch, freight availability, unpaid activities, and rate conditions can affect earnings. A one-time sign-on bonus is not recurring annual pay. Contractor receipts also have business expenses that employee wages do not necessarily carry.

Your earnings stay in this page only and are not included when sharing. Annual pay is divided by 52; annual differences assume 52 equally paid weeks, not guaranteed work. Job estimates retain their source assumptions and exclude conditional bonuses. This is not take-home pay or a tax/benefits comparison. Business revenue, unsplit team totals and maximum-only advertisements are not compared with wages.
